Today I started talking to someone about the effects of drugs on unborn babies. It was mentioned that there should be a new law in effect that holds the mother accountable if a baby was born with a disablitiy realted to illegal drug usage and/or miscarried while doing illegal drugs because of the emotial impact and hardships it has on other people.
Any baby born when there mother is doing illegal drugs makes it harder for the baby to go through life. They often have more physical and emotional problems as well as learning and devlopemental disablities. The hardships someone has to go throw that was born as baby whos mother was on drugs is onfair to the the new baby. Imagine not having a normal life because your mother knownly did something illegal. If a mother gives drugs to a newborn baby its considered child abuse and/or attempted murder.
Its all over the news about how drugs effect unborn babies but nothing is being done about it. I don't belive throwing a new mother that had a baby while doing illegal drugs into rehad is enough. If they truly cared for there baby they would have stopped doing the drugs the second tbey found out they were pregnant. Or found help right away. There are no laws that I could find that protect unborn babies from mothers when they do drugs while pregnant. Do you think its time for something to be put into place to protect the unborn babies to give them a better chance at a normal life? or at the very least discourage the use of drugs when pregnat?
